Developing digerati leaders: Education beyond the building information modelling (BIM) ecosystem

Abstract

This books chapter discusses the importance of data and information for the digital built environment and in defining building information modelling (BIM). It explaines the complex institutional setting of the BIM ecosystem and the key standardization events that have shaped it, e.g. in the United Kingdom or other countries. After discussing the impact of the BIM ecosystem on professional relations among various disciplines, it discusses the nature of leaders of digerati in the built environment and beyond from an engineering management perspective, introducing the wider concept of digital engineering for the built environment.
